A short film about a baker son attempting
to convince his father to continue his late
mother's cake shop. The film is dedicated to
the 1998 tragedy in Indonesia.
I was involved since the early pre produc
-tion until the late production phase. i
helped designing 2 Interior locations and
1 exterior location. The environment is
inspired by Jakarta's Old Town (Kota Tua)
region

Pahit Legit's environment design is inspired by painterly style of 1990s-2000s Anime.
Works of Hidetoshi Kaneko (Black Lagoon, 2006) and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (Studio
Sunrise, 2001) come to mind as heavy inspirations. fitting perfectly for a short movie
taking place in 1998 and 2001.

Multiple feedback from test audiences and professors suggested that some environments lack character.
due to this problem, we traveled to the real location the story based itself on in Kota Tua and Glodok Jakarta
to get in depth references. I found how local shops and stalls have a chaotic yet orderly way of placing
items. multiple items are labeled at put in jars with adverts filling the room. With this i implemented these
ideas that in turn create the distinct "vintage cake shop store" feel that was missing.

Another challenge was a shot that has Nanda cleaning up the store. due to time constraints we came
up with an idea to create a timelapse shot. with this i made 3 different versions of the Service Area.
one that's completely messy, then a version that only has dust remaining, and finally one that's
clean and orderly
