Pre Production for a Short Horror Film set
in Taman Nasional Baluran in East Java.
This film's aesthetic combines nature and
superstition tied to a historical massacre
in the past.
I was involved in the Pre-Prod stage to do
background art for scene 1, scene 2 and
creating artstyle guides for 4 other scenes.
I was also the vehicle concept artist
working together with the 3D Generalist.

As this was my first time collaborating with a 3D Modeller, i had trouble
working the concept design for the boat as i'm not familiar with how the engine
works. With this i compiled multiple videos of boating and engine repair tutorials
to get a better sense of how it works. with this the design borrows it's looks from a
Honda 5 HP Petrol Boat engine.

Scene 15 includes a tracking shot of a Savannah. My director gave multiple feedback
during the process citing to increase the feel of how barren the location is. the solution
i came up with is several drafts of the spiked forest moved to the farther left side.
the final version being the bottom that places the forest farthest to the left

The process of making the backgrounds start of with utilising the storyboard
for color blocking and after that adding details such as trees, roads and base lighting.
finally each layer is rendered using textured brushes to give it a rough and graphic painterly feel.
